In his second term leading the national senior men’s football team, Mosimane succeeds Hugo Broos, who chose not to extend his contract following the World Cup.

The finalization of Mosimane’s role as head coach was postponed as he demanded a salary package equivalent to that of Broos, who was reported to earn R16.8 million per year.

SAFA initially proposed a salary of R5 million to Mosimane, which was later raised to R10 million. However, negotiations reached a standstill until mounting political and public pressure compelled the association to compromise.
