Recent Fatal Incident Raises Concerns
This recent shooting occurs just two weeks after a triple murder at the Voorbrug Taxi Rank on Delft Main Road, involving members from both Codeta and the Cape Amalgamated Taxi Association (Cata).
Codeta chairperson Nceba Enge confirmed that the victims were part of the organization and expressed heightened concern within the industry.
“We can confirm that the victims are members of Codeta. At this time, we are unable to provide specifics regarding this incident, but we are profoundly shocked by the ongoing violence, as this is not an isolated event.

“We are conducting a memorial service today (24 March 2026) for one of our members who was shot in Delft just two weeks ago at the taxi rank. We are currently en route to the memorial service.
“This appears to be an ongoing issue. While we can confirm that the shooting is linked to taxi operations, we do not have the necessary details,” Enge stated.
Enge warned that the pattern of violence could lead to further incidents.
“We must be aware that this situation is likely to escalate considering the frequency and continuity of these incidents,” he indicated.
Investigations are ongoing as authorities continue to assess the situation.
