Ruben Amorim Expresses Frustration with Manchester United Defenders After West Ham Equalizes
A visibly frustrated Ruben Amorim shared his sense of “disappointment” following Manchester United’s 1-1 draw at home against West Ham.
Sougountou Magassa’s equalizer in the 83rd minute thwarted United’s hopes for a vital win and the opportunity to climb into fifth place, potentially securing a Champions League qualifying position.
This result marked the fourth occasion since last month that United failed to break into the top five.
The fans expressed their frustration with boos at full-time, as the team has achieved only one victory in their last five matches.
A terse Amorim lamented the team’s inability to compete for second balls, which he believed contributed to the corner resulting in Magassa’s goal.
“Frustrated, angry, that sums it up,” Amorim remarked.

Red Devils booed off as they squander another opportunity for a top-five spot
“After the first goal, we seemed to lose some second balls, and Matheus (Cunha) won a couple, aiding our transition,” he continued.
“We need to defend further from our goal since we know they often cross and secure corners.”
“Unfortunately, a long ball came in, and they managed to win a second ball against three of our defenders, so we must improve in the second half.”
Amorim made five substitutions, with four of them being defensive players. Leny Yoro replaced the struggling Ayden Heaven at halftime, while Patrick Dorgu and Manuel Ugarte came on while United was in the lead.

Amorim dismissed suggestions that his substitutions were overly defensive.
“We are losing points due to our failure to compete for second balls. Sometimes, having more attackers isn’t the solution,” Amorim elaborated.
“We had chances to bring on another offensive player. But who? Who would bolster the attack?”
When Kobbie Mainoo was mentioned, Amorim chuckled.
“I know Bruno (Fernandes) contributes well in the box. Mason Mount operates in his position. They were pressing us back.”
“Bryan (Mbeumo) has the speed to assist us in winning the ball during transitions, so that was my strategy.”
Man Utd ratings: Amad shines and Casemiro finds form… but Cunha clearly unfit against West Ham
MATHEUS CUNHA appeared to be off the pace in his return from injury, as Manchester United wasted yet another chance to ascend the table.
Diogo Dalot marked his Premier League scoring return with a goal, putting United in pursuit of a Champions League berth.
However, Ruben Amorim’s team quickly became complacent instead of pushing for a second goal.
West Ham capitalized on United during set pieces, with Sougountou Magassa tapping in the rebound from a Jarrod Bowen header to equalize.
In truth, United didn’t deserve the win, as they seemed too relaxed with their slim lead, sparking ire from Roy Keane in the Sky Sports studio.

Despite his sour demeanor, Amorim confirmed he will address the United players at their Carrington training ground on Friday.
The Portuguese manager asserted that his reactions post-match are generally consistent, except for that notorious incident when he smashed a television after a 3-1 defeat to Brighton last January.
“In that regard, I’m always steady,” he insisted. “I had one episode with Brighton last year.”
“I will speak to the team tomorrow.”
