Bronkhorstspruit: Deputy Principal of Primary School Granted R5,000 Bail Following Allegations of Raping 8-Year-Old Student
Bronkhorstspruit – A deputy principal from a primary school in Bronkhorstspruit, who was detained on allegations of raping an 8-year-old girl, has been released on bail.
Despite the prosecutor’s opposition to bail, the Bronkhorstspruit Magistrate’s Court approved a bail amount of R5,000 on Friday, 19 September 2025, for the 53-year-old deputy principal.
The court imposed strict conditions for the bail, requiring the accused to report to the Bronkhorstspruit Police Station twice a week on Mondays and Fridays from 06:00 AM to 06:00 PM, have no contact with the victim or her family, inform the investigating officer about any changes in residence, and attend all scheduled court appearances.
The allegations state that between June 2024 and August 2025, the accused assaulted the child three times during school hours on the premises.
The situation came to light when the mother noticed her child exhibiting unusual behavior, and upon inquiry, the child disclosed the incidents.
Following this, the mother reported the matter to the police, resulting in the accused’s arrest on 1 September 2025.
