Badela Honors Mentor Mokwena – Sportswire
Sinethemba Badela, the newly designated head coach of Chippa United, expresses his appreciation for having Rulani Mokwena, the coach of Mamelodi Sundowns, as his mentor.
Badela embarks on his inaugural head coaching role at a premier league club after succeeding Thabo September, who failed to achieve a top-eight finish, leaving the team positioned 11th in the Betway Premiership.
Having served as Mokwena’s assistant at Wydad Casablanca in the last season, Badela arrives with a wealth of football expertise and experience.
The former academy coach from Mamelodi Sundowns conveyed his heartfelt gratitude towards Mokwena, asserting that all his football acumen has stemmed from him.
“Being mentored by coach Rulani and having the opportunity to learn from him on a daily basis is genuinely remarkable,” Badela remarked.

“He has imparted invaluable knowledge, particularly about the key to success. My understanding is entirely a result of his mentorship, and he has been an immense support.”
Badela conveyed his excitement for his new position at Chippa, noting his intention to implement all he has learned from Mokwena to lead the team forward.
“I consider myself exceptionally lucky to have worked alongside him and am now eager to take on this challenge at Chippa United. It’s a demanding task, but I’m determined to build a robust team by incorporating the wisdom I’ve acquired from coach Rulani at Sundowns, who played a vital role in my ascent to the first team,” Badela added.
“I aspire to blend those lessons with my own understanding, aiming for a fruitful season ahead.”
This Saturday, Chippa will compete against league champions Sundowns at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium at 15:00.
