Vuyolwethu Nogantshi named as Futuregrowth’s New CEO
Vuyolwethu Nogantshi is set to take the helm as CEO of Futuregrowth Asset Management in July 2025. He will succeed Shaun Harris, who will transition to the role of CIO after Andrew Canter steps back from operational duties at the end of October 2025. Canter, who has held the CIO position for 17 years, will remain involved in the investment process during the transition phase.
“We are thrilled to welcome Nogantshi to Futuregrowth. His extensive expertise, leadership qualities, and forward-thinking vision make him the perfect partner for me as we continue to enhance Futuregrowth’s legacy, innovation, and impact on South Africa’s investment landscape,” remarked Harris.
Nogantshi, who recently left his position at Absa Bank Limited, brings over 20 years of experience in the financial services sector, including key roles in investment management, risk oversight, and client services. He became a qualified actuary in 2011 and has held roles at Allan Gray, Nedgroup Investments, and Alexforbes.

At Allan Gray, Nogantshi held the position of executive director for Allan Gray South Africa and Allan Gray Life, where he led institutional client services. His responsibilities included regulatory compliance, financial management, and strategic leadership. Most recently, he served as a Principal at Absa, overseeing three businesses in the markets division: retail structured products, exchange-traded products, and fund-linked derivatives.
The company emphasizes that Harris is well-equipped to guide Futuregrowth’s investment strategy, leveraging his experience as managing director of Old Mutual Specialized Finance, as well as his leadership roles in the institutional client group for Rand Merchant Bank’s Global Markets division.
Additionally, the company recognized Canter’s significant legacy, noting his 28 years at Futuregrowth, with 17 years in the CIO role. Under his guidance, the firm established itself as a frontrunner in fixed-income asset management and developmental investing.
His leadership has played a vital role in building Futuregrowth’s reputation for consistent returns while upholding a strong commitment to responsible and sustainable investment practices in South Africa.
