Heartbreaking Revelation: Police Find Bumpers Linked to Missing VW Polo in Constables Case
Pretoria – The South African Police Service (SAPS) has discovered parts thought to belong to the missing VW Polo linked to the three constables whose bodies were found in the Hennops River.
The remains of the officers were recovered earlier this week on Monday and Tuesday.
The constables – 20-year-old Boipelo Senoge, 24-year-old Cebekhulu Linda, and 30-year-old Keamogetswe Buys – were en route in a VW Polo (registration number JCL 401 FS) from Free State to Limpopo when they went missing.
They were last spotted on Wednesday, (23 April 2025), at the Engen garage near the Grasmere toll plaza along the N1 highway.

The search for the officers concluded on Tuesday, (29 April 2025), with the retrieval of all their remains.

In addition, two other bodies were discovered in the Centurion area alongside the Hennops River.
While a Renault panel van was located, the VW Polo remains unaccounted for.

On Wednesday, (30 April 2025), national police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe announced that search and rescue teams have located parts believed to be from the missing VW Polo, including both front and rear bumpers.
“All three families have been notified of this latest update,” Brigadier Mathe stated.
“Specialists are currently examining whether these vehicle parts are indeed from the VW Polo that the officers were driving.
“Furthermore, a reflective police jacket belonging to one of the deceased officers has also been found.”
Brigadier Mathe additionally disclosed that divers from SAPS, the City of Tshwane, the SAPS Special Task Force (STF), and Search and Rescue South Africa have recovered a metal object that is believed to be the missing vehicle.
“This metal object was identified by divers about 4km away from the N1. It has not yet been confirmed if this object is obstructed by debris,” Brigadier Mathe commented.
The operation involved collaboration among SAPS Crime Intelligence, the cybercrime unit, detectives, the Lyttleton Community Police Forum Traffic, fidelity secure fire, and vision tactical private security teams.
The investigation is ongoing.
