British Airways Flight involved in emergency incident at Cape Town Airport with no injuries reported

Cape Town – The Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) has announced that a British Airways flight experienced an incident at Cape Town International Airport on Thursday, (17 April 2025).

In a statement provided to The Bulrushes, ACSA indicated: “The specifics of the incident are under the jurisdiction of the airline, and we urge the media to contact British Airways for further information.”

“However, ACSA can confirm that all standard emergency protocols were promptly and effectively enacted in accordance with international aviation safety standards.”

“The incident was categorized as a Phase 2 emergency activation.”

The aircraft returned to Cape Town International Airport, which offers comprehensive operational support and services after hours, ensuring a well-coordinated and efficient response.

“ACSA’s emergency response teams, in partnership with all necessary stakeholders, were promptly deployed to address the situation and assist affected passengers,” the statement continued.

“We are pleased to report that the incident was handled without any injuries or harm, prioritizing safety throughout the event.”

“The aircraft has been evaluated and deemed serviceable. Its departure has been rescheduled to comply with mandatory crew rest requirements.”
