As you may know, Growthpoint is the largest publicly listed commercial property landlord in South Africa. It shares ownership of the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, its flagship property precinct, while maintaining a strong presence in Gauteng and Sandton, where its head office is located.
In addition, it boasts iconic properties such as the Discovery head office in Sandton Central and is spearheading the development of the Sandton Summit mixed-use precinct surrounding this property.

In a story from September 2019, Moneyweb broke the news about Growthpoint’s ambitious Sandton Summit plans. This was before the Covid pandemic, and we quoted Growthpoint’s Rudolf Pienaar, who was the group’s prominent chief development and investment officer at the time. The late Pienaar was instrumental in the industry and previously chaired the Green Building Council of SA.
Now, with Sandton Summit on the agenda again, Growthpoint recently announced its new R2 billion upscale apartment tower project, Olympus Sandton, last month.
