“This incident was not just a violation against the nurses but also a direct attack on our healthcare system. Investigations are ongoing, and as evidence comes to light, further charges will be filed,” stated Ramathuba.

Concerns Regarding Security Measures

Ramathuba expressed concern about the security protocols in place at Ga-Chuene Clinic, where three security personnel were overpowered during the incident.

“It is unacceptable that three security guards could be subdued by a single assailant. Although he was armed, the female guard, who was not restrained, could have summoned assistance but failed to do so. This raises serious questions,” she remarked.

Ramathuba drew a comparison with a similar incident at Ga-Thaba Clinic, where a guard successfully defended against the same suspect. She has called for an investigation into the security failures at Ga-Chuene.

“Were the guards incapacitated when he approached? A thorough inquiry is needed to determine what went awry,” she added.
