Kenny Kunene blasted for R120k groove bill with Zim ‘blesser’

Unlike Patriotic Alliance leader Gayton McKenzie, who has pledged 100% of his salary to charities, Deputy-President Kenny Kunene has been flashing his cash while out and about. This includes a recent appearance at the Durban July and an after-party at Umhlanga nightspot, Rockets.

In fact, the politician, formerly known as the “Sushi King,” allegedly spent a whopping R120 000 on drinks at groove alongside his pal Serge Cabonge.

Serge – from Zimbabwe – is popularly known for his status as a “blesser.”

On social media, Kenny Kunene and Serge Cabonge’s wild weekend escapades had social media in a tizz.

Celebrity blogger Musa Khawula tweeted a screenshot of the duo’s bill of R114 518 for drinks at Umhlanga nightclub Rockets. In the bill, the businessmen besties allegedly tipped their waiter a handsome R12 000 tip.

On the X platform, many social media users – particularly PA supporters – criticised Kenny for his lavish display of wealth.

@lorettadans: “This is exactly what Kenny Kunene is all about. Flash and show off.”

@LindaMvund26543: “A true politician doesn’t go around and show off? This is a sign of disrespect to the masses.”

@leratokeele: “This is not a good image for Kenny Kunene and PA, I’m afraid.”

Unbeknownst to many, Kenny Kunene and Serge Cabonge have been pals for many years. The controversial Zim businessman attended the Patriotic Alliance member’s wedding in 2017. They’ve also been snapped together at various parties and events.

Like Gayton McKenzie, Kenny, who has the tagline “Abahambe,” has zero tolerance for illegal immigrants. They’ve also voiced their preference for South Africans over foreign nationals.

Meanwhile, Kenny Kunene was also seen bragging about his designer wear at the Durban July this past weekend.

In a viral video, the politician says: “I’m wearing Gianfranco Ferré [jeans], and I’m wearing Louis Vuitton [shoes]. I’m wearing an Amiri [jacket], and I’m wearing a Zegna [T-shirt].

@craigsalist Thank you, Mr Kenny Kunene, for the masterclass on how to call our garments by their rightful names. #RideTheWave #DurbanJuly #CraigsAList ♬ original sound – CraigsAList
