Update on Bongani Zungu’s next possible destination!
Bongani Zungu shocked the local football fraternity, when he announced his departure from Mamelodi Sundowns on Friday afternoon.
In a strange turn of events, Zungu turned to social media to announce his departure from Sundowns.
What was even more bizarre in that situation, Zungu announced his departure before Sundowns. The club still haven’t said something, the Bafana Bafana international said:
Zungu announces Sundowns departure
“I would like to thank Mamelodi Sundowns fans, technical team and the President for the last two seasons. The relationship I have with the club is beyond the professional space, sundowns will always be family to me and the entire Zungu family. I will always be grateful for every opportunity I was offered, so I say this with a heavy heart that I will be leaving the club. Thank you to all the amazing supporters who have been amazing to me throughout, I will always be grateful. I wish the team all the best, I know bigger success awaits you. I can’t say this enough, Thank You KBY.”. He wrote.
Now since leaving Sundowns, there has been talk of where he could end up. Soccer-Laduma suggests that Zungu may have options in the Middle East.
“The Siya crew has been led to believe that there is a possible opportunity for Zungu in Saudi Arabia. Though a club name is yet to be confirmed. At 31, the Siya crew understands that Zungu is looking at the possibility of cashing in, with Saudi Arabian clubs paying big money to players, including the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane and Ngolo Kante. The Siya crew understands that an announcement will be made in the coming days on which club Zungu is going to join.” Wrote the publication.
Middle East move next?
Zungu had two stints at Sundowns, but was far from a regular in his second. He did start the Nedbank Cup final loss to Orlando Pirates though.
