Johannesburg Water to implement emergency 16-hour shutdown
Johannesburg Water teams will conduct unplanned maintenance, which will result in a 16-hour outage.
The maintenance will start at 7:00 and end at 23:00 on Tuesday, 11 June.
JOHANNESBURG WATER TO CONDUCT UNPLANNED MAINTENANCE
Johannesburg Water said its teams will be repairing a burst 600mm main pipe to improve service delivery and the continuity of water supply.
There will be no water during the maintenance and there is no finite decision yet on alternative supply.
All the streets in the following suburbs will be affected:
- Atholl
- Atholl Gardens
- Benmore
- Hyde Park
- Hurlingham
- Illovo
- Inanda
- Morningside
- New Brighton
- Parkmore
- Sandhurst
- Sandton
- Sandown
- Strathavon
- Simbo
- Willowild
LINDEN2 RESERVOIR MAINTENANCE POSTPONED
Meanwhile, the Randburg Reservoir repairs scheduled for Monday, 10 June, were postponed to Wednesday, 12 June.
The maintenance will start at 8:00 and end at 20:00.
Johannesburg Water said the supply to the reservoir will be isolated (closed) to allow for repairs, which will affect some systems.
Affected systems and suburbs include:
- Linden1 Reservoir – Robindale ext 1, Jacanlee, Cresta ext 2/3/4/1/5, Darrenwood and Aldara Park.
- Linden1 Tower – Linden, Pine Park ext 1, Linden ext
- Kensington B Reservoir – Bryanston ext 5, Bryanston ext 3, Beverly Gardens, Ferndale (all extensions), Strijdom Park, O Summit, Vandia Grove (all extensions).
- Kensington B Tower – Bryanbrink, Daniel Brinkpark, Bryanston ext 5, Lyme Park ext 3 and 4, Kensington B.
- Blairgowrie Reservoir
- Linden2 Reservoir
