Parts of KwaZulu-Natal without electricity following flash floods
Eskom says technicians are working to restore electricity after inclement weather conditiona caused outages in parts of KwaZulu-Natal.
On Saturday, 13 January, flash floods wreaked havoc in most parts of KwaZulu-Natal causing significant damage to infrastructure.
ESKOM WORKING TO RESTORE ELECTRICITY IN KWAZULU-NATAL
In a brief statement, Eskom said the storm that swept through KZN on Saturday night caused extensive damage to its networks.
“Technicians have been deployed but there is no ETR,” the uutility said.

These are the most affected areas are:
- Pietermaritzburg
- Margate
- Kokstad
- Newcastle
- Ladysmith
- Stanger
- Zululand
- Empangeni
Customers have been urged to treat all installations as live.

LOAD SHEDDING SCHEDULE FOR THE WEEK
In a brief statement on Sunday, 14 January, Eskom said due to the sustained generation performance and the recovery of emergency reserves for the week ahead, Stage 3 loadshedding will continue to be implemented until 05:00 on Thursday, 18 January 2024.
“Eskom Power Station General Managers and their teams are working diligently to ensure that the 2 721MW of generating capacity is returned to service by Wednesday,” the power utility said.
