Five people killed on KwaZulu-Natal wet roads

Five people have died and some injured earlier today, Saturday, 22 October in KwaZulu-Natal following a series of serious accidents due to wet roads.

FIVE PEOPLE KILLED IN AN OVERLOADED VEHICLE

Earlier this morning IPSS Medical Rescue was on the scene of a serious vehicle accident on the N2 near Zinkwazi, where four patients were being transported by IPSS Medical Rescue.

While on scene, IPSS Medical received calls of another collision on the N2 near Tugela.

“Upon arrival, medics found a horrific scene of a head-on collision between a sedan and a light motor vehicle.”

It is reported that eight people were travelling in the sedan, and sadly five of the passengers were killed during the collision.

“The three remaining occupants and the two occupants of the second vehicle sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious, and were transported to nearby facilities for further care.”

MOTORIST EJECTED DURING THE ACCIDENT

Further north, IPSS Medical Rescue also responded to a single-vehicle accident on the N2 near Salt Rock a short while ago.

It is reported that a passenger travelling in the vehicle was ejected from the vehicle, sustaining critical injuries.

“The patient is being stabilized by advanced life support and will be transported by IPSS Medical Rescue to a nearby facility for further care,” the private emergency service company reported.

MOTORISTS ADVISED TO DRIVE WITH CARE ON WET ROADS

The company went on to warn motorists to drive with caution on KZN’s wet roads.

“We urge motorists to travel with care in the wet weather. Thank you to all that were on both scenes this morning. Our condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased,” IPSS stated.
