Two people killed MERCILESSLY in a drive-by shooting

Police in Motherwell, Gqeberha are seeking the community’s assistance in tracking down suspects involved in a drive-by shooting which claimed two people’s lives, earlier this week.


On Monday at about 18:50, Siyabulela Olayi (29) and Ulundi Mpulu (23)  were driving along Tyityaba Street, NU10, Motherwell. 

Another vehicle came from behind and started shooting at their vehicle, said police spokesperson, Captain Andre Beetge.

Olayi was the driver of the car and Mpulu was in the passenger seat.

The two allegedly lost control of their vehicle and collided with a container on the side of the road. The suspects continued shooting at them before speeding away.

“Both men were seriously wounded in the attack and were rushed to hospital by unknown persons. Siyabulela (with several gunshot wounds to his upper body and legs) passed away while on the way to the health centre. Ulundi passed away at another hospital due to a gunshot wound to his chest.”

said Captain Beetge.

At this stage the motive for the drive-by shooting which left two people dead is unknown. Police are still looking for the suspects.

Meanwhile, in Potchefstroom, police remain on high alert. This is following the incident in which members of the community allegedly set alight a house with three men inside.

Three men were brutally murdered in Morokweng village outside Vryburg after their house was set alight on Tuesday. 

According to the police, members of the community went to a rented house at Ga-Mokgopha Section where three men stayed. 

The house was allegedly pelted with stones. While escaping the attack, the victims allegedly stabbed and injured some of the attackers.

“The group then chased and caught the men who were accused of dealing in drugs. They were then taken back to the house which was eventually set alight with the trio inside,”

said Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone.

The victims are between the ages of 22 and 36. They were burnt and died in the house. 

As a result, a case with charges of kidnapping, murder and arson is being investigated by the police. 

No one has been arrested.
