Coming up: Consumer price index

The consumer price index likely rose 0.4% in December, according to economists polled by the Wall Street Journal. That would lift the increase in 2021 to 7% for the first time since 1982. The core CPI is forecast to rise 0.5% in December, pushing the yearly rate to 5.4% from 4.9%. The report will be released at 8:30 a.m. Eastern by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
