Stocks opened slightly higher Tuesday, putting the S&P 500

on track for a record close if gains hold. Analysts said investors continued to look for a catalyst for the market’s next big move as they await progress toward a new round of coronavirus aid and monitor U.S.-China tensions. The Dow Jones Industrial Average

seesawed between small gains and losses and was last up around 14 points, or 0.1%, at 27,859. The S&P 500

remained up 0.2% at 3,389.84, topping the record close of 3,386.15 set on Feb. 19. The index topped the record finish in intraday action last Wednesday, Thursday and again on Monday, but failed to close at a new all-time high. The Nasdaq Composite

was up 0.5% at 11,186.
